ABOUT
ROUND
ROCK

Slide up to one of the local watering holes for a cheers-worthy beverage or pull up a chair for a meal that is farm-to-table fresh. Round Rock downtown’s history is the stuff of western legend, with a honest-to-goodness shootout involving local lawmen and the notorious Sam Bass in 1878. The 100-200 blocks of East Main Street are included in the National Register of Historic Places.

Whether you are looking for a play-date for your kids or a date night with your one and only, you’ll be sure to find a spot that is just right in Round Rock.

ATTENDEE directions to Kalahari and the SWS registration desk.
From I-35 in either direction, exit to Palm Valley Blvd/U.S. 79 and head east. Go 3.5 miles, the well-marked entrance to Kalahari is on your right.

After you make the turn onto the Kalahari grounds the first cross street you come to is Kalahari Boulevard. Here you have a choice. You can go straight to the main entrance, or you can turn right on Kalahari Boulevard and park just outside the Convention Center entrance. There is ample free parking in both locations, and each choice has its pros and cons.

Option A – Walk More, See More
Why go to the main entrance? Several reasons:

  • There is valet parking at the entrance.

  • You will see what your attendees see when they drive up.

  • You will see what your attendees see when they walk in the front door.

  • You will see more of the resort on your stroll (okay, hike) to the SWS registration desk.

  • It is a very large, very cool, very impressive entrance.

If you’ve chosen the scenic route, when you get inside turn right and follow the herd of Zebras on the floor toward a rather fierce-looking gorilla the staff have named BoBo. Take a left at BoBo and head toward the pizzaria. Follow the hallway around toward the convention center. You will see Southwest Showcase registration at the built-in to your right as soon as you enter the convention center foyer, just past Sortino’s Caffe.

Option B – Walk Less, See Less
Running late? Didn’t bring your hiking boots and extra water? You can skip the scenic route and park a lot closer to the action. After you turn onto the property, make a right at Kalahari Boulevard, the first cross street you come to. Follow the signs to the Convention Center, it’s hard to miss. There is ample parking near the doors, and a port-cochére for dropping people off in case of inclement weather.
